HumansOfImpactHub

Humans og Impact Hub is a series of interviews with some of our members. We ask them questions about their start-up, what motivates them, their challenges, how Impact Hub Bergen helps their endeavours and where they see themselves in five years time.

This week we chat to our new team member Una Cecilie Friis, who began at Impact Hub as a volunteer events coordinator and is now stepping into the role Events and Community Manager.

What will your role be at Impact Hub Bergen?

I am the new Event and Community manager. The job includes quite a lot of different tasks, like working with our hosting team, organising the volunteers at Impact Hub, working with internal communication at Impact Hub and working on what the Impact Hub can offer our members. I will also be working with how we can be attractive for new members and that we constantly have new and innovate events at Impact Hub, like Impact Nights. This is something I have worked on from its start, first as a volunteer and now in this role.

Also there will be some strategy and administration tasks so I’m kind of like a potato – can be used for everything. A role that I feel quite comfortable with.

What is your background & how did you find out about Impact Hub Bergen?

I have a business degree from NHH and as I was nearing the end of my degree I released that I wasn’t quite ready to go into the traditional path of a business graduate. I’ve always had a keen interest in Social Entrepreneurship so I started working as a volunteer for a small entrepreneurial venture here in Bergen and took part in a lot of events around town. Through these events I got in touch with someone from Impact Hub, who told me a lot about what they work with. After that I just followed my gut feeling and felt that I fit right in at Impact Hub, both with the people here and my own values. What I find exciting about Impact Hub is that it is an entrepreneurial venture in itself so I get to be involved in the growth of the house and I find that really cool.

What are you looking forward to most about working at Impact Hub Bergen?

I am really looking forward to getting to know all the people in this house. Also gaining a deeper understanding of their motivation and how Impact Hub can accommodate their needs so they can succeed. There are a lot of possibilities available right now and I think there will be a lot of exciting things happening in the near future. I hope that I can contribute to getting things done.

What personal attributes will you bring to Impact Hub Bergen?

I am, well I like to think of myself as quite a jovial person. I really believe in the idea of community and I hope that I can have a positive effect on the environment at Impact Hub. I am a loyal person and someone who can get really engaged and excited about things I care about. I am also really interested in diversity and I have a background from International Management so I really like places like Impact Hub Bergen where so many different cultures are represented.

Where are in 2020?

In 2020 I am a specialist in facilitating social entrepreneurship 🙂
